On the morning of November 20th, 2023, in a joyful atmosphere of celebrating Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20th), the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU) in collaboration with the Center for Education Quality Accreditation – Hanoi National University solemnly held a ceremony to announce the decision and award quality accreditation certificates to three training programs of the university including Information Technology (Engineer), Computer Engineering Technology (Engineer), and Business Management (Bachelor).

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien – Director of the Center for Education Quality Accreditation, on behalf of Hanoi National University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan – Deputy Director of UD; leaders of functional departments of UD, representatives of leaders of UD’s member universities; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of VKU’ Council; Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of VKU, along with all staff, lecturers, and students of VKU.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU sent his sincere thanks to the Center of Educational Quality Accreditation – Hanoi National University, a reputable unit in educational quality accreditation activities in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, for nominating the delegation of leading prestigious, experienced, and professional accreditation experts in the country. He also showed gratitude to Da Nang University, especially the Board of educational quality assurance; to all units and staff of the school, especially the three faculties with training programs being granted the certificates; and to the school’s Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, for their determined and drastic implementation and excellent performance during the quality accreditation of the three training programs with very good results.
Although VKU has only been in operation for more than three years, it boldly registered to participate in the quality accreditation of the training programs at a very early stage to build the standard of quality culture in the school. Although there are still many constraints caused by objective conditions such as its new foundation and influences by the Covid-19 epidemic, with effort and determination, VKU has confidently and gradually achieved outstanding results. This is evidenced in the increase in annual admission standards (the average admission score of 14 admission codes in 2023 is 24 points, 02 points higher than 2022 and 06 points higher than 2020, when VKU was established), nearly 95% of graduates had jobs, and positive feedback from alumni and businesses about the quality of the school’s training programs.
VKU’s curriculum, content and training methods have also been innovated, different from many other universities across the country in that it aims at liberal and internationalized training, arranges the courses in the reverse module to classify students according to their abilities, creating inspiration and motivation for students. Another outstanding feature in VKU’s educational practice is that students, especially the freshmen, can access practical professional knowledge and skills at a very early stage, can enhance foreign languages, have opportunities to create new products through projects assigned for each semester, and participate in practical experiences such as academic playgrounds and business meetings. Noticeably, 100% of students’ graduation theses are written or presented in English, and bilingual IT engineering programs in Japanese – Vietnamese, Korean – Vietnamese, and so on have been implemented.
The team of lecturers in the fields of IT, communications and digital economy is very large and powerful, highly qualified, and specialized and is among the top most high-skilled in the country, especially the rapidly increasing ratio of doctoral and associate professor teams in recent years. These along with modern and sufficient facilities and laboratory practice equipment, an extremely important factor, have created the reputation and training quality of VKU.
However, to achieve the goal and vision of becoming a leading university in Vietnam with the international standard, VKU needs further investment and should focus on quality assurance and improvement activities, set the goal of internal accreditation target until 2026, and deploy domestic and international accreditation of all the school’s training programs. VKU will continue to pursue major projects on improving its infrastructure and facilities to create a complete ecosystem serving training, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship activities such as Research Space and innovation, Marker Space, Smart Lab, Startup incubator, Co-working space, International Conference Area, VKU Hotel, Vietnam – Korea Cultural Square, Nightlife area, standard sports area for boarding students, modern lecture halls, etc. VKU constantly develops a team of highly qualified lecturers and simultaneously continues to launch and provide quality training for new courses such as Semiconductor Circuits, Artificial Intelligence, Communication Technology, or Fintech as well as introducing the international master’s programs.

At the ceremony, the Center for Education Quality Accreditation, Hanoi National University announced the decision and awarded educational quality accreditation certificates to three training programs of VKU including Information Technology (Engineer), Computer Engineering Technology (Engineer), and Business Management (Bachelor).

On behalf of the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation – Hanoi National University, Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien gave a congratulatory speech and shared: “In spite of being originally a faculty of UD and a newly established university which is not subject to accreditation or evaluation requirements, VKU is a pioneer which seriously requests an external evaluation and a rigorous appraisal of a university’s processes and complies with strict procedures in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, especially the self-assessment process, ensuring the internal educational quality. All have contributed to affirming that VKU is a university that always aims for comprehensive quality and builds a quality culture. The certificates of educational quality accreditation are an important milestone, but not the final target. We expect and believe that this will be an important incentive for VKU to continue improving its quality and having breakthrough solutions, continuing to enhance the quality and academic practice of the university to a new level, commensurate with its tradition of construction and development.”.
The process of preparing and implementing educational quality accreditation for three training programs is a process of great effort, enthusiasm, and responsibility of all officials, employees, and lecturers of the entire school, especially the collective Faculties and the Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance. On the occasion of the announcement and awarding of certificates, VKU awarded certificates of merit from the university’ rector to four units who have had outstanding achievements in the quality accreditation of training programs which are the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Engineering, the Faculty of Digital Economics and E-Commerce, and the Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance.
