As part of the “2024 Korean Invitational Program,” with support from Hanwha Life Korea and ChildFund Korea, VKU’s outstanding students participated in various exciting learning activities and experiences. A highlight of the program was the “Ideathon – AI Applied in Fintech and Healthcare” event, held on the afternoon of October 30, 2024. The organizers arranged 20 VKU students into 4 teams, giving them 120 minutes for group discussions, research and analysis of real-world scenarios to identify issues and propose solutions using AI and other advanced technologies to solve problems in the fields of financial technology (Fintech) and healthcare.
Overview of the ideathon session
At the Ideathon, the students – including 8 first-year students who have enrolled at VKU for just over a month – demonstrated dynamism, quick thinking, and solid professional knowledge, presenting valuable project ideas with highly practical applications. The projects included “SmartF,” focused on solving the problem of smart consumption among youth; “One for Life,” aimed at tracking, advising and automatically supporting and improving people’s healthy living habits; “MindMate,” designed as a smart solution for mental health and psychological care; and “SymAI,” a project which aims to develop an intelligent application for supporting automatic disease diagnosis.
Freshman Phan Thanh Khang from the class of 2024 confidently presented the idea of the “One for Life” project
Within a short period of time, the teams completed their project ideas and presented them before a panel of experts in financial technology, artificial intelligence, and health sciences from Hanwha Life Korea, ChildFund Korea, and VKU. Through their presentations, which included scenario-building and simulations to demonstrate their ideas, the students impressed with their professionalism in researching and presenting projects, covering everything from researching and discovering problems to proposing solutions with new technologies. They also displayed a strong grasp and ability to apply artificial intelligence technologies such as generative AI, blockchain, computer vision, natural language and image processing, etc.
All experts from Hanwha Life Korea and ChildFund Korea were truly surprised and highly appreciated the abilities, knowledge and soft skills of VKU’s students. The experts provided comments, professional feedback and suggestions so that the teams could perfect their projects in the future.

But this time, through the Ideathon, I was very surprised at your abilities – you’re even better than I imagined. The way you worked in teams generated ideas and proposed solutions was really intelligent and reasonable. Your understanding of engineering and technology is amazing. Besides, I really admire your soft skills and English ability, and especially some of you even spoke excellent Korean. I believe that you will develop further and be more successful with VKU, a truly ideal university environment for students. Hanwha Life will continue to accompany and support you and look forward to seeing your growth and significant contributions to Vietnam and the global community in the future.”

I was especially impressed with the 8 first-year students who demonstrated quick adaptation and maturity despite their short time at VKU. I believe that with VKU’s educational philosophy of “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation” and the 3Cs spirit (Capacity, Contribution, Commitment), they will continue to progress and grow not only in expertise but also in personality”.
