In the joyful and exciting atmosphere at the beginning of the Year of Dragon 2024, on the morning of February 16, 2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang organized a meeting with its key staff and honored new Doctors. This is a meaningful traditional activity at the beginning of the new year, as a New Year’s greeting to the “common home” VKU, and an opportunity to reunite to share achievements and look forward to a potential journey.

Attending the meeting, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the university; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Vice Rectors: Dr. Tran The Son, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho; comrades in the Party Committee; Heads/deputy heads of affiliated units; Leaders of the Trade Union, Youth Union, and new Doctors.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the university spoke and congratulated all key staff, officials, lecturers, employees and their families with wishes for a healthy and a happy new year.
The year 2023 marks VKU’s remarkable development after 4 years of establishment, with outstanding achievements summarized and shown through 10 typical milestones and events of VKU in 2023 such as: completing creating, opening and implementing 4 training programs in the fields of Communication Technology, Marketing, Information Security, Semiconductor IC Design and creating the Master program of Information Technology; Successfully carried out bilingual global programs: English – Vietnamese; Korean – Vietnamese; Japanese – Vietnamese taught by international professors and experts; accredited 03 training programs (Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Business Administration) according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; organized the 5th Informatics Olympiad in Central and Central Highlands; enrolled 1,500 students with an average admission score of 24 points/3 subjects, increasing the number of students to nearly 6,000; Chair and coordinate with many reputable partners, professors, and scientists in and outside Vietnam to organize the CITA 2023 International Scientific Conference; Proposing initiatives and successfully chairing the implementation of the Community Connection and Development Forum “Asean Consortium for Innovation and Research – ACIR”; Sign cooperation agreements with many domestic and foreign units to jointly propose, develop and implement scientific and applied research; Strengthen connections and work closely with the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, KOICA Vietnam National Office, and the Korean ODA project implementation consulting unit (PMC) to gradually implement the project successfully; specify plans and proposals to further develop VKU in the coming time; In 2023, VKU’s students excellently obtained the achievements at International and National Competitions in many aspects of Scientific Research, Start up – Innovation, and Academics. In addition, training activities are deployed synchronously, training programs are updated and innovated, quality assurance is focused, facilities and finance are given attention and direction. The material life of employees is increasingly improved; Communication has been strongly implemented, bringing high efficiency, … Thereby, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap affirmed that VKU’s success in the past year has been created by the entire efforts for the common goal.
Overview of the first meeting of The year of Dragon – 2024
Entering 2024, in the context of a harsh socio-economic situation, higher education needs a high quality to meet the demands of society. With the determination to build VKU into an ideal and a happy university in the Central region, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the university proposed and expected all units and staff as well as lecturers to focus on 10 key mission orientations as follows:
- Build internal solidarity, culture and spirit united for the goal of developing VKU in the spirit of service, noble ideals towards a VKU as the dream university for many generation of students, especially students in the Central region; in order to create high-quality human resources to attract attention and investment from many organizations and businesses in the Central region for job opportunities.
- Maintain discipline and professionalism in management, teaching and learning. Strengthen communication channels connecting universities, parents and students in managing and monitoring students’ learning process.
- Continue to affirm its position and enhance the reputation of VKU as a quality university on domestic and foreign academic forums and with the social community.
- Build a culture of service and kindness along with self-respect and pride in the VKU identity.
- Maintain enrollment quality with a target of 1,500, expand training majors including developing Fintech, diversify enrollment methods, maintain groundbreaking policies that have been implemented, actively promote admission consulting work to parents and students and implement many activities related to admission to attract students to VKU. Strengthen the management of teaching and learning, develop textbooks, teaching materials, exercises, improve the quality of course projects and graduation projects; Strengthen foreign language teaching, … quickly confirm output standards with foreign languages: English, Japanese, Korean. Implement training programs in the form of 3+1, 2+2, 1+3, … exchange lecturers and students with universities in Southeast Asia and countries around the world. Hopefully, the year of 2024 will be a breakthrough year in internationalizing training activities.
- Strengthen the manager and leader team, develop the quality and quantity of staff and lecturers including releasing policies attracting young Doctors. Research and implement salary and income policies according to the Government’s new Decree from July 1, 2024.
- Promote international cooperation projects such as CFK, ODA, implement projects with businesses and seek more funding sources through research topics and projects from the central and local levels to affirm VKU’s position and role.
- Successfully maintain and organize the CITA International Scientific Conference, co-host the Southeast Asian Scientific Research for Students Conference, expanding the ACIR network initiated by VKU.
- Innovate administrative management, successfully build a set of BPR/ISP processes.
- Create a good, modern and clean working environment, infrastructure and facilities, as follows: Implement 1/500 planning for infrastructure development with items such as parking lots, sport area, connecting space with dormitories expanding; Build incubators, co-working spaces, and connectivity hubs to create startup spaces, cooperation with businesses, and internship opportunities for students in campus; Promulgate regulations on public asset management.
VKU’s Rector and Chairman of the University’s Council honored 3 new Doctors
At the meeting, VKU honored and gave flowers to congratulate 03 new Doctors, bringing the total number of highly qualified staff and lecturers to 07 Associate Professors and 50 Drs (reaching a rate of 41% of the lecturers with Phd degrees or higher level). The majority of new Doctors are trained and defend their theses from prestigious domestic and foreign universities such as: Russian Federation (01), Vietnam (02)… This is truly a valuable resource, contributing to affirming VKU’s prestige and reputation.
In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of the first day of the new spring, with faith and hope for a bright future, the staff of Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity, initiative, positivity, creativity, strive to successfully complete the tasks in 2024, upgrading VKU to an international level towards the celebration of its 5th anniversary of foundation and of more than 20 years of opening and development.
