Within the framework of the ODA project, continuing the trip to Korea, on May 28, 2024, the delegation of Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Da Nang had a meeting with Hanwha Life at its headquarters in Seoul – Korea.
Overview of the meeting
The delegation consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector and heads from Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation.
On Hanwha Life’s side, there were Mr. Yeo Seung Ju – Vice President, Mr. Hong Jeong Pyo – Deputy General Director, Mr. Kim Hang Il – Director of Administration, Head of Social Responsibility Strategy Department, Mr. Lee Kyu Sun – Head of Global Department, Ms. Kang Seo Eun – Head of Communication Strategy Department, Ms. Jung Mi Kim – Director of Social Responsibility Strategy Department, Ms. Hansol Park – Manager of Social Responsibility Strategy Department who welcomed the VKU’s leaders thoughtfully and formally.
At the meeting, Mr. Yeo Seung Ju – Vice President of the Group happily welcomed the VKU delegation to Hanwha in Korea. Thereby, he also shared and introduced Hanwha as one of the 7 largest corporations in Korea, in the Top 500 largest economic corporations in the world. Founded in 1952 with the original name Korea Explosives Inc., starting from the production of explosives, Hanwha then quickly developed and became a multi-industry business corporation, continuously diversifying business activities across many fields such as energy, materials, aerospace, mechatronics, retail and financial services. In 1992, “Hanwha” officially became the new name of the company and is currently operating a diverse business with 6 main segments: manufacturing and construction, finance, services and resorts, aerospace and mechatronics, advanced chemicals and materials, solar energy.
Since the end of 2023, Hanwha Life Vietnam has become an important partner and accompanied VKU through the support of CFK Foundation and Daehong to implement many activities, especially the Informatics Olympiad, The 5th Central – Central Highlands region and VKU Campus 2024 and through the construction and development of Financial Technology (Fintech) training programs.
On behalf of the delegation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector thanked the Group’s leaders for their thoughtful welcome and hoped that the previous as well as the coming support from Hanwha would contribute to the investment and development of high-quality human resources in information technology and Fintech. This also promotes startup and innovation activities among students in Vietnam in general and at VKU in particular.
At the end of the meeting, Hanwha Life’s leaders pledged to continue supporting VKU’s activities of ICT training, Fintech, startup and innovation in the coming time.
