At the meeting, the university’s leaders shared that VKU always clearly defines its mission and responsibility in training, providing high-quality human resources, doing scientific research, transferring knowledge and technology with the vision of becoming the country’s leading university and the desire to reach an international level in the field of training and research; operating according to an advanced management model as a modern and smart university.
VKU was established in 2020, with an annual enrollment target of 1,500 and an average entrance score of 24 points for 14 majors of information technology, communications and digital economy. So far, VKU has had nearly 6,000 students and plans to have 8,000 – 9,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students by 2025. There are over 250 people in the teaching staff, including nearly 60 doctors and associate professors, accounting for nearly 41%. In addition, VKU has focused on connecting and building a network of over 200 strategic partners including domestic and international organizations and businesses participating in the training process, job recruitment, sponsorship and cooperation for Bilingual global programs in English, Japanese, Korean,…. and implementation of many activities, games, international academic and cultural exchanging programs, practical projects, internships, business cooperation, programs taught in foreign languages, especially 100% of students’ graduation theses are written/presented in English. In particular, VKU is the first university in the Central region to announce enrollment and training of Semiconductor IC Design Engineers, expected to enroll about 500 students from 2024 to 2027, transferring 180 students from other majors to Semiconductor IC Design Engineers. It is expected that from 2028, there will be students graduating in the field of Semiconductor IC Design. In addition to training Semiconductor IC Design Engineers, VKU will also deploy Accelerator classes, with the expected enrollment of 60-100 targets annually.
VKU has been cooperating with Synopsys in training and transferring Semiconductor IC design software from an ODA project funded by the Korean Government, in cooperation with the Institute of Information Technology (Hanoi National University), Digital Integration Institute for 6-month accelerator programs.
Dr. Loi Nguyen – Executive Vice President of Marvell Global hopes that the two sides will have cooperation in the field of semiconductor
At the meeting, Dr. Loi Nguyen – Executive Vice President of Marvell Global thanked the university leaders for the thoughtful welcoming and considered this as a milestone in the strategy of developing international cooperation with Danang University in general and VKU in particular. He highly appreciated the role and reputation of VKU as a leading university in the Central – Central Highlands region. He hopes that the two sides will take advantage of their strengths and potentials, to cooperate and support each other in training and providing human resources in the semiconductor field. Dr. Loi Nguyen said: Marvell was founded in 1995, and is currently one of the leading global corporations in semiconductor IC design and data infrastructure, with nearly 7,000 employees and more than 10,000 patents. The revenue in 2023 has reached nearly 6 billion USD, entering the top 25 largest companies in this industry. The company’s business operations are divided into five branches, including data center, network infrastructure, enterprise network, consumers and cars/industry. The company provides System-on-a-Chip devices, leveraging its portfolio of intellectual property technologies in the areas of signal processing as well as integrated circuits. Marvell also develops integrated hardware and software platforms that combine digital computing technologies designed and configured to provide optimal computing solutions. In Vietnam, Marvell has been operating since 2013. Marvell Vietnam currently has 2 offices in Etown (Tan Binh district) and Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone (District 7) Ho Chi Minh City with about 300 employees (of which 95% are engineers). According to Marvell’s assessment, over the past 10 years, Vietnamese engineers have proven their capabilities, from knowledge, professional experience, and project management skills. Vietnam’s human resources have developed enough to be able to undertake the latest technology projects. That is why Marvell decided to elevate Marvell Vietnam to become a world-class design center. It is expected that the Company will research to open an office in Da Nang city in the near future.
At the end of the meeting, the University’s leaders welcomed and expressed the readiness to cooperate with the company in training human resources for semiconductor IC, contributing to providing human resources for Da Nang (Vietnam) market in particular and for the global market in general.
