On the morning of June 25, 2024, the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) inaugurated the International Student Exchange Program between VKU and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand. This annual activity is organized based on the cooperation between VKU and KMUTNB, aiming to enhance and expand international cooperation, exchange learning opportunities, and foster cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Thailand. The program will take place from June 24 to June 30, 2024.

The opening ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supeeti Kulchan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management; Ms. Phimvalanch Moosikaphan, Director of the International Cooperation Center and two lecturers from KMUTNB; and from VKU, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of the university, along with leaders of various departments, faculty members, and 32 Vietnamese and Thai students participating in the program.

In his welcoming speech, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of VKU, expressed his joy in welcoming the delegation of lecturers and students from KMUTNB to the “VKU – KMUTNB The Innovation & Intercultural Exchange Camp 2024.” He highlighted the significance of this activity, which provides students from both universities with opportunities to experience, learn, exchange cultures, and enhance their international integration skills.

Over the years, VKU students have continuously obtained numerous achievement in national and international competitions in academics, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. To strengthen its internationalization strategy, VKU has increased connections with international universities and organized various academic exchange activities, helping students acquire additional knowledge, skills, and confidence for global integration.

On behalf of the KMUTNB delegation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supeeti Kulchan thanked VKU’s leadership, faculties, lecturers and staff for their thorough preparation and warm welcoming. He expressed hope that the academic exchange program between VKU and KMUTNB would continue to be maintained, developed, and expanded with more diverse academic exchange activities in the future.
During the program, students from both universities will participate in startup incubation and innovation activities such as PISI: Design Thinking, Business Model Canvas with fields such as information technology, tourism, and digital transformation. Student groups will be formed by connecting students from different majors of both universities. Various activities like discussions, programming, presentations, and so on will help students from both universities enhance their teamwork skills, soft skills, and acquire new knowledge under the guidance and support of lecturers from VKU and KMUTNB, creating complete and highly feasible products.

Besides exchange activities, students from both universities will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful city and famous tourist destinations in Da Nang such as Ba Na Hills, Linh Ung Pagoda, Danang Museum, and Hoi An Ancient Town; engage in cultural exchanges, Vietnamese-Thai language exchange, and teambuilding activities to learn more about Vietnamese culture and people.

King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is a renowned university, ranked among the top universities in Thailand and the top three in Southeast Asia in the field of science and technology, training excellent students to serve Thailand’s modern industry (ranked by Times Higher Education, 2013-2014). KMUTNB has a 65-year history with a central library system, smart learning and research spaces, and green campus architecture. KMUTNB has three campuses in Bangkok, Rayong, and Prachinburi, 13 faculties, 2 colleges, and 2 graduate schools. The university has nearly 30.000 students, with strengths in fields such as science and technology, aviation, robotics, tourism, and hospitality.
King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) was co-founded by the Royal Thai Government and the Federal Republic of Germany as the North Bangkok Technical School in 1959 (commonly known as the Thai-German Technical School). In 1964, the school was upgraded to the “Thai-German Technical College” before becoming King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology North Bangkok Campus in 1971. In 1986, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology was divided into three autonomous universities, and the North Bangkok campus became King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology North Bangkok. In 1995, KMUTNB expanded its educational mission to rural areas, leading to the establishment of the Prachinburi campus in Prachinburi province. In 2007, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology North Bangkok was renamed “King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok,” becoming an autonomous public university.
