Continuing the business trip to Korea, on the afternoon of May 27, 2024, the delegation of the University of Danang (UD) and the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), the University of Danang (UD) visited Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM) to learn about electronics industry and semiconductor technology, contributing to the orientation of training and developing the Semiconductor IC training program at VKU in the future.

The delegation at Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM), Korea

The delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Director of UD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of VKU Council, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of VKU, Representatives from the Department of Science and International Cooperation (UD) and the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation (VKU).

The delegation visited exhibition halls of technological inventions.

At SIM, the delegation visited the exhibition halls, which display early technological inventions and outstanding advances in electronics and semiconductors of the world and Samsung.

SIM is located right inside Samsung’s headquarters in Seoul, the capital of Korea, with a 5-storey campus of over 10,000 m2 in area and divided into three main areas.

In the first area, the delegation experienced ancient technological items and learned about Samsung’s creative history through images of global inventions in lighting, communication, and household appliances industries, such as Edison’s first light bulb, the world’s first TV, the StarTAC phone, Samuel Morse’s telegraph, etc.

The second area, called “The Era of Corporate Innovation”, showcases the development of the industry and displays, thereby promoting the development of the mobile sector with three space clusters: Semiconductor, Display, and Mobile. In particular, the semiconductor area shows the development process closely related to the life and efforts of companies towards these advanced technologies. Thanks to the development of semiconductors which pack a large amount of information into small chips, the electronics industry has advanced as a leading industry. The size and weight of electronic products have been significantly reduced over time thanks to semiconductor technology.

The last area is titled “The Creative Age” where all of Samsung’s most modern technologies are gathered. There is also the SIM Theater and Product Galleries, conveying the theme of the museum through videos and typical products and solutions.

At the end of the SIM tour, the delegation learned a lot of practical experience, grasped and understood more about the semiconductor development process and advanced technologies currently being used in the world to orient the development of Semiconductor IC training and research at Danang University and VKU in the coming time.
