In the academic year 2023-2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Commonication Technology, the University of Danang, proudly boasts two young female assistant lecturers: Pham Thi Kim Anh (Former Information Technology student – Class of 2017) and Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (Former Information Technology student – Class of 2018). They surpassed thousands of potential candidates to become 2 out of 1,814 outstanding applicants awarded the Korean Government Scholarship under the Embassy Track for 2024 at leading universities in Korea.

Assistant Lecturer Pham Thi Kim Anh

Pham Thi Kim Anh, who graduated top of her class in Information Technology with a GPA of 3.57/4.0 (Class of 2017), was accepted into the University of Ulsan, Korea, majoring in AI & Computer Engineering. Ulsan University is the top-ranked university in Ulsan city and is among the top 13 universities in South Korea. Established in 1970, Ulsan University is located in the heart of Ulsan city, renowned for its millennia-old landmarks such as Mucheji Marsh, Bangudae Petroglyph Museum, and Jangsaengpo Whale Museum. Ulsan is also known as a leading industrial city in Korea, home to the world’s largest shipbuilding yard at Hyundai Industrial Complex.

Assistant Lecturer Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, a distinguished graduate in Information Technology, was accepted into Kyungpook National University, Korea, majoring in Computer Science. Kyungpook ranks among the top 3 national universities in Korea, excelling in fields such as Medicine, Engineering Technology, Business, and Commerce. Established in 1946, Kyungpook National University is located in Daegu city, the industrial heart of Korea, home to numerous large economic conglomerates.

Both assistant lecturers are outstanding alumni of VKU, recognized for their remarkable achievements. VKU selected and retained them as assistant lecturers in the Computer Science Department, guiding them towards pursuing their Master’s degrees abroad with the aim of becoming future lecturers. During their time at VKU, both alumni garnered numerous accolades and commendations from the University of Danang and the Rector for their exemplary performance over the years. VKU’s emphasis on investing in an internationally standardized learning environment, enhancing language proficiency, curriculum development, and practical project systems, as well as actively bridging the gap between academic and industry by inviting engineers and experts from enterprises to teach courses and workshops each semester, underscores its commitment to meeting current social needs. VKU has established itself as a trustworthy institution where students can place their trust in its reputable and high-quality learning environment.

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is among the prestigious scholarships with rigorous candidate selection criteria. Endorsed by the Embassy of Korea in Vietnam and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), both Kim Anh and Thanh Thuy courageously applied and successfully navigated through three selection rounds: Round 1 – Document preparation and interview with the Embassy of Korea in Vietnam; Round 2 – Submission of successful candidates’ applications to the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) for review; and Round 3 – Further review of applications and interviews with three selected Korean universities.

Through this scholarship, VKU students and lecturers will have ample opportunities for advanced postgraduate study and research in Korea, fostering cultural exchanges and experiences between Vietnam and Korea, thereby contributing to elevating the educational cooperation relationship between the two countries to new heights.

Once again, VKU congratulates Pham Thi Kim Anh and Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy – two young assistant lecturers who have achieved this proud accomplishment, thereby enhancing the university’s reputation and stature, and building the image of an excellent team of young lecturers at VKU.
