This academic and cultural exchange program is to promote international cooperation activities, support and create conditions for staff, lecturers, and students to participate in international academic exchange programs as one of its internationalization strategies; as well as to implement the memorandum of cooperation between the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communications Technology and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand).

On the morning of October 6th, 2023, the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU) held a departure ceremony for the academic and cultural exchange program in Thailand which was launched for the first time.
Attending were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU, Leaders of Faculties, Departments, Centers, and 23 members of the delegation who are lecturers and students.

Speaking at the departure ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU congratulated all students selected for this program. According to him, those students not only represented VKU but were also representative ambassadors who would bring Vietnamese image and culture to friends around the world. He added that this would be a good opportunity for VKU students to have academic and cultural exchanges and expand academic and scientific research relationships and broaden their horizon with practical knowledge that could contribute to helping them have future orientation as well as opening up many new exchange programs between the university with countries in Southeast Asia and around the world.
The international academic exchange program between the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand) is scheduled from October 8th to 14th, 2023. The sixteen VKU students participating in this first program were selected based on their academic results and English language skills through in-person interviews with students of the 2020, 2021, 2022 admission courses. Priority was given to students trained in global programs who have international English certificates and excellent academic awards.

Participating in the program, students will have many opportunities to experience the Thai learning environment, have a cultural exchange, as well as to practice and develop themselves in a multicultural environment. In addition, those students will participate in workshops with topics related to the fields of Tourism and Services, Information Technology, and Computer Engineering chaired and presented by experts from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok and Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology. They can also collaborate with students at King Mongkut’s University to carry out a project and together present the outcomes in the Hackathon format. Once having completed the program, students will be granted a certificate of completion and extra points will be added to their final exam scores or the accomplishment of one relevant module/course in the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 school year will be recognized based on the level of their completion and professional content according to the program’s requirements.
All the students participating in the program are partially funded with accommodation and travel expenses during their time in Thailand, and among them there are two students with the best achievements granted all the airfare and travel expenses.
With its international orientation and strategy, the international academic exchange program with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok will open up many good opportunities for VKU’s lecturers and students to access the international learning environment, experience academic exchanges, improve professional knowledge, and create strong breakthroughs in the upcoming time. VKU hopes this will be a milestone in the process of internationalizing its activities in the future through specific activities in the community of ACIR (ASEAN Consortium for Innovation and Research) which were recently initiated by the university itself.
