On the afternoon of October 30, 2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, hosted a meeting with the delegation from Kitakyushu City (KKJ), Japan, to discuss research collaboration and training in information technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Overview of the Meeting<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Attending the meeting were Mr. Kido Kenichi, Head of the Business Cooperation Department and leader of the delegation; Mr. Kawasaki Takayuki, Head of the International Cooperation Department; Mr. Kato Nobuaki, Head of the Senior Human Resources Department; Mr. Tran Nhu Hoai from NIX Education.,JSC; along with other members of the delegation. From VKU, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector, was present along with leaders of various departments and centers within the university.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leading the meeting, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Kitakyushu delegation, marking their third visit to VKU. He emphasized that VKU is committed to its mission and responsibility in training and supplying high-quality human resources, conducting scientific research, and transferring knowledge and technology. VKU aims to become a leading university in the country with aspirations for international recognition in training and research, operating under an advanced governance model as a modern and smart institution. With nearly 7,000 students and an annual intake of 1.500, VKU focuses on training and in-depth research in information technology, communications, and digital economy. This qualified workforce meets both domestic and international market needs. Currently, VKU collaborates with various partners to offer bilingual training programs in English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, and Korean-Vietnamese. The Japanese-Vietnamese bilingual IT engineering program in partnership with NIX Education has achieved notable success and serves as an effective training collaboration model that can be replicated in the future. Nearly 150 students are currently enrolled in this program, with expected Japanese language proficiency reaching N2 level. Additionally, VKU is actively implementing a training program in semiconductor design, with the first intake in 2024 featuring 71 students who achieved an admission score of 27 or higher, while other majors also have high entrance scores averaging 24-25. VKU proposed several areas for support from KKJ, including:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Supporting to connect Japanese companies in KKJ for student internships and practical experiences, facilitating employment opportunities for students, especially those enrolled in the Japanese-Vietnamese bilingual program.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Coordinating to organize recruitment fairs at VKU and in Da Nang City.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Assisting in searching sources of scholarships from Japanese companies to expand the Japanese-Vietnamese bilingual training model at VKU.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Introducing universities in KKJ and scholarship opportunities for VKU students to transition to 2+2, 3+1, master\u2019s, and doctoral programs in Japan.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Supporting to connect companies in semiconductor design, packaging, and testing in Kitakyushu with VKU for training and recruitment collaboration.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Kido Kenichi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the university leadership. He noted that there is currently a trend of Japanese companies returning to the domestic market, with KKJ being a top destination of various enterprises. Consequently, the demand for high-quality human resources in various sectors, especially in semiconductor technology and environmental technology, is significant in KKJ.<\/span><\/p>\n

    KKJ recognizes the immense potential of Vietnamese students, including those from VKU, to meet this workforce demand. Therefore, KKJ is promoting cooperative programs between the city, VKU, NIX Education, and universities and companies in Japan, creating job opportunities for many graduates to access the Japanese labor market quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In closing, university leadership welcomed the collaboration and expressed readiness to expand partnerships with KKJ, facilitating Japanese companies’ access to training and employment opportunities for students.<\/span><\/p>\n
