Well, hello there! Long time, no speak!
Happy New Year!!! Wishing you only good things in 2014!
Unfortunately, it will be a busy January for Dizee…. so I just wanted you to set your alarm for Feb 3rd, 2014. That’s when I will be back with bells on.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!!! My boys lost their minds when they saw Santa had brought them the Skylander Swap Force Guys they were hoping for.
Now, it’s time to start thinking about next year.
Last year I wrote down my first set of Goals. I listed all sorts of things I wanted to do both big (Lose 20 pounds!) and small (clean the playroom).
Incredibly enough, I checked off many more items than I thought I would.
Well, honestly, checking any off was impressive from my end.
Either way, it was such a success that I decided to do it again this year. I am trying to be a little less specific but more defined in my approach (did that make sense? I think it did).
I created 6 categories with 5 goals each (yes, some may deem 30 goals excessive, but hey, go big or go home).
I focused on Home, Health, Family, Career, Finance and the big catch-all Other.
What to know what my goals are? Sorry, can’t tell you. If I tell you, they wouldn’t come true.
What? That is only true about wishes?
Ok, Some of my goals are carry over’s from last year (Yes, I am talking weight loss and debt reduction. I guess this year’s ‘theme’ is streamlining….) But I also hope to blog more (probably come February… I can feel your utter disappointment…. Sorry.) And I want to spend more time with my boys.
You can download the Goal Worksheet here…. Happy Goal Setting!
Am I the only one who has NOT sent out her Christmas Cards out yet?
That being said, I have gotten so many wonderful Christmas cards where I have been totally envious of the return label.
Yes! I said it! I love return labels that have a little something-something going on. ( Teresa, yours was at the top of my envy-list!)
Since I had some time to kill waiting for my cards to actually arrive, I put these return address labels together.
Seeing as it is the season for giving, you can download the labels here so you can print them out yourself! (It is an excel file)
All you need to do is replace your information for the generic info I included. Oh, the label size is 1” x 2 5/8” (I used the Avery Easy Peel ones… I know, FANCY!)
Sorry I waited for SEVEN DAYS before Christmas to send them out…. BAD DIZEE!
Or should I say – tools?!
This post was approved, or should I even say endorsed by none-other than my other half – Craig!
He had just been shopping at Ace Hardware and noticed these little gems. These tools are normally marked at around $12.00, but were on sale for $6.99.
I know, sounds pretty good, but there was also an instant in-store coupon for $5.00 off! Making each of these bad boys only $1.99 each.
So yes, Craig really got all these tools for around $12.00 plus tax.
The only catch (which isn’t really a catch) is you have to be an ACE Rewards card holder. It is free to join and you get all sorts of little perks, not to mention a $5.00 coupon when you accumulate 2,500 points.
So, do you have anyone who just bought a house on your Christmas list? You could put together a nice little tool kit!
So, as they say, this is the most wonderful time of the year!
However, I am harboring some guilt.
Because THIS is my 2013 Christmas tree .
With us leaving for Disney so soon after Christmas, I was worried about taking our massive tree down in time. I worried the dogs would attack the tree while we were away, toppling it for our house sitter. And, mostly, I was worried that with so much to do before we leave, the tree would just be an added burden.
Yes, call me Scrooge. I have been called worse.
I honestly didn’t even feel guilty until I pulled this little tree out of the box. I am not even sure how I was surprised – the box was only two feet long. How big did I think the tree lurking in there was?
Either way, the kids and I had a great time making the decorations for the tree. There are some out of play dough, some are blank cardboard ornaments from A.C. Moore that we dolled up and then we made these simple candy canes out of pipe cleaners.
The moral of the story – it isn’t about the size of your tree, it is about the love in your heart.
At least that is what I keep telling myself.
We will do it up right in 2014!
So, I will preface with the note that this does not ACTUALLY taste 100% like ice cream. It tastes like a banana with the consistency of gelato. (Hence the mustache… get it? It’s like a banana in disguise? It’s funny…)
But it is oh-so-tasty, especially when ‘garnished’ with chocolate chips, whipped cream or something else similarly detrimental to your diet. Craig made fun of my chips. But hey, if you can keep it to a minimum, this just may be the snack that gets you through your weight loss.
All kidding aside, I found this ‘recipe’ on a very cool site (it’s vegan approved, well, before the milk chocolate chips!). You do need a food processor – but that is all the special equipment you need. Oh, and a cold banana.
1 Banana (mine was brownish and a little scary looking. I put it in the fridge for a few hours to cool it off. I have found that the frozen banana didn’t chop up well in my food processor)
- Break that banana into some chunks, toss it into the food processor and go to town until the recipe is smooth-ish.
- Marvel at the ease of this ‘recipe’
- Put it into a bowl, adorn with your toppings of choice
- Don’t feel guilty – it’s a banana!!!!
First off, let me start off by saying I have a massive sinus infection and an ear infection… I feel like my head will explode. So, I will be taking the rest of the week off to heal my poor semi-broken body. Thank God for Penicillin!
Yes, I actually feel like this.
Secondly, it seems like time is rearing its ugly head again. I just don’t seem to have the time to write five posts a week. With the holidays, Disney and my general disorganization, I decided to cut down to Tuesday & Thursday posts.
Just often enough to scratch my writing itch and compel me to do more blog-worthy stuff. Isn’t it about quality rather than quantity anyway?
Either way, my blog is still my fun little place where I can keep track of the random thoughts going through my head. It’s not like I make money off it – it just helps with my sanity and is a hobby I enjoy doing.
Hopefully, Post-January, I will pick up and post more.
Adieu until Tuesday – I have an exciting, easy recipe planned for homemade banana “ice cream”. Who else is incredibly excited?
