Visang Education is recognized as a leading provider of Korean language education in South Korea and has expanded its presence to many countries, including Vietnam. The smart Korean language classroom model (KLASS) funded by Visang Vietnam, in collaboration with KOICA, includes software and digital equipment essential for operating KLASS.

Klass (Korean ?Language ?Smart ?Solution) is an interactive program where both students and lecturers engage in a shared space. Lectures use electronic boards while students utilize tablets for reading, listening, writing, and speaking in Korean. They can solve exercises and receive immediate feedback. Additionally, team games enhance student engagement, making Korean learning more enjoyable and relatable. The curriculum is delivered through video clips, allowing students to listen to dynamic dialogues, practice speaking, and stay focused in class. The program offers immersive experience in Korean language and culture, featuring famous destinations like Gyeongbokgung and Myeongdong, so students can get closer to Korean culture. Depending on the students’ levels, the Visang Korean language curriculum consists of six books (two each for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels), covering essential phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, reading, and practical examples using storytelling methods, evaluating to review, and providing structured learning content for each section. The combination of Visang’s curriculum and digital learning creates a blended learning system that meets the needs of lecturers, students, and administrators, paving a new path for Korean language education.

As part of the series of events titled “Fintech Development in the Digital World,” on the afternoon of September 27, 2024, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang, hosted the “Workshop on Fintech Workforce Development and Training in the Digital World.” This event marked a significant milestone as the largest forum on Fintech ever held in Da Nang.

Overview of the Workshop

Attending the Workshop, on behalf of the organizing unit, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council; Vice Rector: Dr. Tran The Son, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho; along with Leaders of Departments, Faculties, Centers and lecturers and students in the field of Digital Economics of the university.

On the side of domestic and international delegates, there was Mr. Vo Minh – Director of the State Bank of Vietnam – Da Nang Branch; Assoc. Opening Remarks by Dr. Tran The Son, VKU Vice Rector

In his opening speech, Dr. Tran The Son, Vice Rector of VKU, sincerely thanked and warmly welcomed all participants, particularly the leading Fintech experts from both Vietnam and abroad. He emphasized that the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for the government, businesses, and the university to exchange ideas and discuss potential development directions for Fintech services in Vietnam, especially in Da Nang. A focal point of the discussions was workforce development for the Fintech sector, a rapidly growing and promising market both in Vietnam and globally.

VKU, with the mission of a leading public university, plays an important role in providing high-quality human resources for the fields of information technology, communications and digital economy. VKU has pioneered and actively trained and developed high-quality human resources in strategic industries for the development of Da Nang City, the country and world trends, and has been very successful in the fields/specializations of semiconductors, artificial intelligence, logistics and this year, Digital Financial Technology (Fintech). VKU’s training and human resource development direction focuses on digital technology for the financial industry (TechFin-Technology Finance), enhancing English and Korean languages ​​and the ability to adapt to change and lifelong self-learning capacity (liberal) for learners.

The workshop listened to in-depth sharing and presentations from 3 parties: the State, Enterprises, and Universities, focusing on key issues in Vietnam’s orientation policy on building a controlled testing mechanism for financial technology activities in the banking sector shared by Mr. Vo Minh – Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Da Nang Branch; models of training human resources, and challenges, lessons learned in training Fintech human resources in developed countries, building a financial technology ecosystem and applying Fintech in real asset activities presented by experts and researchers from the UK, Australia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Additionally, Mr. Kyoung Bae Park, CEO and Director of Hanwha Financial Technology, shared insights on the development of Fintech applications at Hanwha Life Korea and the company’s future plans for insurtech in Vietnam.

Panel Discussion on Fintech Development Strategy

Following the presentations, a panel discussion on the Fintech Development Strategy was held, featuring experts, investors, technology companies, Fintech unicorns, and representatives from both domestic and international universities. The discussion focused on the challenges, opportunities, and practical implementation of Fintech in Vietnam and Da Nang, particularly in terms of workforce development.

The Fintech Workforce Development and Training Workshop in the Digital World has successfully connected three parties: the State, Enterprises, and Universities, opening up new directions in Fintech human resource training in Vietnam and Da Nang. The conference successfully connected the government, businesses, and academia, opening new pathways for Fintech workforce development in Vietnam and Da Nang. This event marked the beginning of a new academic year, continuing the journey of development and affirming the university’s reputation as a leading institution in the country with aspirations for international recognition.

Overview of the Ceremony

Attending the ceremony were distinguished guests from various sectors. Among the local leaders were Mr. Ngo Xuan Thang, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Da Nang, and Dr. Le Duc Vien, Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

International guests were Ms. Mizonova Maria Georgievna, Consul General of Russia in Da Nang; Mr. Shimonishi Kiyoshi, Deputy Consul General of Japan in Vietnam; Mr. Sangil Kim, Corporate Social Responsibility Director of Hanwha Life Korea; Mr. Junwhan Hwang, CEO of Hanwha Life Vietnam; Ms. Jin Kim, Global Program Director of Childfund Korea; Dr. Yuenyong Nilsiam from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand); and experts from Sweden and the United States.

Representatives from the University of Danang were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan, Deputy Director of the University of Danang, along with leaders from various faculties and organizations. Additionally, leaders from member universities such as the University of Science and Technology, University of Economics, University of Education, and University of Foreign Language Studies, School of Medicine and Pharmacy were present.

Representatives from sponsoring businesses were Visang Company (Korea), Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, FPT Software Central Region, NiX Education JSC, and others.

Representatives from the administration of high schools in the Central and Central Highlands regions, as well as the parents of the new students and graduates, were present.

From Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of VKU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the University Council; and Vice Presidents: Dr. Tran The Son and Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, along with leaders from various departments, centers, international experts, and faculty members. Notably, VKU warmly welcomed nearly 1,700 new students and graduates who participated in the event.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, VKU Rector, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the local leaders, international consulates, domestic and foreign enterprises, and all attendees. He extended his congratulations to 1,521 new students from 2024 enrollment and 153 graduates, while also acknowledging the support of their parents.

In 2024, VKU achieved another successful enrollment season, ranking among the top universities in Vietnam with high admission scores, particularly in the Central Highlands region. The admission scores increased across all 16 programs offered by the university, with the average admission score for 2024 reaching 24 points, up 6 points from 2020 (the first year of enrollment, with an average score of approximately 18). Notably, nearly 30% of the admitted students were directly recruited, including 466/1521 students, bringing the total student population to nearly 7,000. The top freshman this year, Le Thanh Tan, a former student from Nong Son High School in Quang Nam, achieved a scholarship score of 29.33 points and received a scholarship worth 45 million VND from the University of Danang and corporate sponsors.

VKU prides itself on being a leading university for education and research in information technology, communications, and digital economy, with aspirations for international recognition. VKU currently boasts a high-quality faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. The university is implementing a ODA project worth 7.7 million USD funded by the Korean government, receiving support from major enterprises like Hanwha Life, CFK, and Nam Long Group, as well as assistance from the University of Danang and the Vietnamese government.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, VKU leads in enrolling and training in strategic fields such as semiconductor design, artificial intelligence, financial technology, and logistics, all crucial for Da Nang’s development by 2030 and 2045, including the development of a semiconductor center, an artificial intelligence center, and an international financial center of regional significance

VKU achieved remarkable accomplishments last year, successfully enrolling a semiconductor design program with an admission score of 27 ranked among the top in the country, establishing the Fintech Hub, offering international-standard master’s programs in information technology, and organizing numerous international student exchange programs with over 70 students receiving internship sponsorships in Thailand, South Korea, and Japan; initiating and organizing various international activities such as the Asian Consortium for Innovation and (ACIR), The 1st ACIR+ Workshop of Research and Innovation for Students (AWRIS 2024), the International Conference on Information Technology Applications (CITA 2024), and the Informatics Olympiad in the Central ?Central Highlands, as well as numerous national cybersecurity competitions.

In terms of academic performance and graduate outcomes, last year VKU had many students achieving high scores in national and international competitions. The percentage of students graduating with honors and distinction was nearly 23%, while those graduating with good standing accounted for almost 48%. Over 95% of graduates secured jobs in their field within six months of graduation, with competitive salaries and positions at many prestigious domestic and international companies. Additionally, several second- and third-year students have already been recruited by major enterprises for paid internships.

At the event, VKU also awarded diplomas to 153 new engineers and graduates, of which nearly 20% graduated with honors (Excellent and Good). The employment rate for graduates is very high, with average salaries ranging from 8 to 15 million VND per month or more. Most graduates are employed at leading companies both domestically and internationally, with many receiving jobs offers from major enterprises while still in their second or third year of study. Representing the new graduates, Le Phuoc Thinh, the valedictorian of the Business Administration program, expressed deep gratitude to VKU lecturers, who have been like second parents, always caring and supporting students throughout their years away from home. With a quality and reputable training environment, and a team of young, responsible, and dedicated lecturers, we have accumulated much knowledge through academic activities and internships from the early years, enabling us to readily access jobs in the industry upon graduation.

On the morning of September 27, 2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, hosted the event series on “Fintech Development in the Digital World?to inaugurate the Fintech Hub for training, research, and innovation. The event also featured seminars and discussions for experience-sharing between governmental agencies, associations, universities, and investors from Thailand, Korea, the UK, and Australia, aiming to train a workforce in financial technology, promote innovation, and position Danang as an international financial hub. This effort aligns with the implementation of Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW and Resolution 136/2024/QH15, facilitating the development of a free trade zone, international financial center, and supporting innovative startups. This marks a significant step for VKU in asserting its leadership in providing high-quality human resources for Danang and the entire nation.

In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU, expressed his deep gratitude for the support and direction from Danang’s leadership, The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Danang, various agencies, the University of Danang, and numerous organizations and businesses in the technology, finance, and banking sectors, both domestically and internationally.

As a leading public university, VKU is crucial in providing high-quality human resources in IT, communications, and the digital economy. The university has proactively trained and developed strategic workforce areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and logistics. This year, it added digital financial technology (Fintech) to its portfolio. VKU’s training focuses on digital technology for finance (TechFin-Technology Finance), enhancing English and Korean language proficiency, and fostering lifelong learning and adaptability for students.

VKU Fintech Hub is a training, research and innovation center sponsored by Hanwha Life Group Korea and ChilFund Korea, a large project associated with the Innovation Center under the ODA Project funded by the Korean Government with a scale of 1,500m2 being implemented at VKU.

VKU Fintech Hub is equipped with modern facilities, including specialized software system for Statistical Analysis System – SAS, simulations software (e-commerce trading floors, Business Strategy on Business Simulations Games, e-payment systems, digital marketing), and a comprehensive library of textbooks and references for fintech training. VKU plans to enroll students in Fintech from 2025 with 60 targets and training orientation to increase 100% English teaching, combine internships and practice at enterprises to meet the human resource needs of Da Nang city and major partners of Hanwha Life Group Korea and the global market.

On the morning of September 21, 2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information Technology and Communication (VKU), Danang University held the event to announce enrollment and training in Master of Information Technology and the seminar on Transfer Study Abroad with partners from the UK and Australia to open up opportunities for candidates to pursue higher education and integrate into the international human resource market.

In his opening speech, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the university happily said: VKU, with the mission of a leading public university and a key supplier of high-tech human resources for the whole country and Da Nang city, is the first and only university in the Central Highlands to announce a Master’s training program in Information Technology built and implemented according to international standards with a very special support policy for learners. This event once again affirms the position, mission and responsibility of VKU with a positive spirit, drastic actions, pioneering in developing high-quality human resources, international integration in the fields of information technology, communications and digital economy.

Dr. Nguyen Quang Vu announced the Master’s training program in Information Technology.

Accordingly, VKU plans to enroll 40 students for the Master’s training program in Information Technology (code: 8480201) within 2 years (including 4 semesters, 60 credits). The training program is designed according to the orientation of in-depth research and especially focuses on foreign languages. With an international and integration orientation, students participating in the Master’s training program must meet all foreign language requirements to be able to study the modules completely in English. Students will study, research, and work with not only domestic lecturers and professors but also international ones in in-depth research fields, especially semiconductor microchips, artificial intelligence, etc. To be able to graduate, students, with the orientation and guidance of lecturers, are required to have scientific articles published in prestigious international scientific conferences and journals.

In addition, the program also applies advanced learning methods such as Personalized Training and Project-Based Learning to meet the needs and capacities of each student.

With different support policies compared to previous master’s training programs, successful students who wish to become lecturers at VKU will be recruited as teaching assistants and enjoy special support policies from the Korean ODA project, including:

  •       100% tuition sponsorship.
  •       Living expenses support of 2,900,000 VND/month for 18 months.
  •       Free accommodation at the dormitory.

Moreover, students have the opportunity to do internships and research at partner universities in Korea and other advanced countries. Outstanding students are also given priority to study for a PhD at prestigious universities.

Through the Master’s program in Information Technology at VKU, students will be:

– Provided in-depth knowledge in the field of Information Technology, Communications and related fields, which helps students not only master current techniques but also understand the latest technology trends.

– Facilitated and encouraged to conduct scientific research and innovation, develop new solutions and innovation, participate in scientific research and applied science projects, and solve practical problems through Living Lab programs.

Representatives of Huddersfield University, Northampton University (UK) and Newcastle University (Australia) shared about the transfer training program.

Immediately after the event of announcing the enrollment and training of Master’s degree in Information Technology, VKU organized a Study Abroad exchange program with partners from prestigious universities such as the University of Huddersfield, the University of Northampton (UK) and the University of Newcastle (Australia). At the sharing session, representatives of the partners introduced the content of the 3+1 transfer training program that allows students to complete the study program in the first 3 years at VKU and transfer to the final year at universities with Top-up training courses corresponding to the fields of information technology, computer engineering technology and digital economy. This helps students save tuition fees compared to studying full-time abroad, while receiving a diploma from prestigious universities in the UK and Australia.

The event of announcing the enrollment and training of Master’s degree in Information Technology and the transfer study abroad program with partners from the UK and Australia is of special significance, marking a milestone in the journey of developing and training high-quality human resources of VKU for the domestic and foreign human resource market, contributing to raising Vietnam’s level to be on par with the world’s great powers.

On September 9-10, 2024, four faculty members from the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Computer Engineering and Electronics, and the Digital Science and Technology Institute (eSTI) of the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), University of Danang, participated in the Research Camp 2024. The event, organized by the Institute of Information Technology (ITI), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, took place at the VNU-RMIT Innovation Hub, Hanoi National University Urban Area, Hoa Lac to foster academic exchange, enhancing research capabilities, and promoting scientific publications between ITI and its partners.

In his opening speech, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Hoang Son, Vice Director of the Institute of Information Technology, shared: “This research camp 2024 offers numerous opportunities for us to collaboratively advance research and development in information technology and semiconductor microchips while enhancing practical and research skills. The program includes expert-led sessions with hands-on guidance to develop project proposals and provide international publication training, fostering sustainable collaborations between ITI and universities.”

With the diverse and rich content of Research Camp 2024, the program featured a wide range of topics, focusing on ITI’s main research areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Microchips, Cybersecurity, and Digital Transformation. Emerging and cutting-edge research topics, such as Generative AI, AI Chip Technology, and the National Data Sharing Platform, were thoroughly presented by experts, along with in-depth analysis of their practical applications and implementation. In between the research presentations, sessions guided writing project proposals for national and international funding, tips for selecting and publishing articles in WoS/Scopus-indexed journals, how to meet the standards for Scopus-indexed papers and experience in developing standardized cybersecurity projects.

To further promote collaborative research between VKU and ITI, at Research Camp 2024, Prof.Dr. Tran Xuan Tu, Director of ITI, discussed specific collaboration plans: implementing short-term cooperation programs lasting 1-2 months at the VNU-RMIT laboratory, where research groups will collaborate on writing proposals for potential projects, and sharing data and computational resources. Additionally, ITI will provide opportunities for VKU faculty and graduate students to participate in internships, while also strengthening joint doctoral research training between the two institutions.

Through these collaborative activities and knowledge sharing, VKU continues to affirm its vision of becoming a leading university in information and communication technology, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources ready to embrace new challenges in the digital world.

Within 2 months (from July 1 to August 31, 2024) in an internship at King Mongkut’s University of Technology, North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand, 6 students from Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), The University of Danang made a great mark in the international student exchange program when 4 of them were selected for the Thailand Metro System project implemented by professors of KMUTNB. This is an achievement not only for the students but also for VKU, affirming the quality of training and the strategic vision of the university in preparing global human resources.

6 VKU students and the entire Council joined in the session for result evaluation

On the morning of August 15, 2024, the internship result evaluation session witnessed the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khridsadakhon Booddachan, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Management (FITM) under KMUTNB, Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Supeeti Kulchan – Deputy Dean of the Faculty; From VKU side, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council, and Dr. Ho Van Phi – Deputy Head of Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, along with KMUTNB lecturers and 6 VKU students participating in the internship at KMUTNB.

Students reported to the Council

At the internship result evaluation session, 6 VKU students confidently reported to the Evaluation Council their research results during their 2-month internship at KMUTNB with 4 topics: Clustering and Auto-labeling Cyberbullying in YouTube Comments (conducted by student Phan Le Hung Viet), Online Outpatient Department Management System (conducted by student Le Kim Hoang Trung), Aspects Based Sentiment Analysis in Bangkok Train Service, (conducted by student group Tran Nguyen Anh and Nguyen Van Thanh Vinh) and Metaheuristic Optimization for Multi-Objective Problem (conducted by student group Nguyen Dang Nha and Pham Van Nam).

The topics received high evaluation from experts and the Evaluation Council, affirming the capacity in research and application of VKU students. Of which, 2 topics relating to the Bangkok metro system by the group of students Tran Nguyen Anh, Nguyen Van Thanh Vinh and the group of students Nguyen Dang Nha, Pham Van Nam were recommended by the Evaluation Council for further research with the professors of KMUTNB and for a scientific report.

6 VKU students received certificates

The success of VKU students in the internship program at KMUTNB is not only a clear demonstration of the quality of training and the efforts of the students, but also affirms the position of VKU in international education. This is also the motivation for future development and for more strong orientation in training high-quality human resources, meeting the increasing demands of the global labor market.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, with new opportunities and challenges, in the spirit of the educational philosophy of “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation”, VKU has united step by step to firmly build and develop a large-scale, high-quality human resources, pioneering in opening new training majors, affirming VKU’s position, enhancing VKU’s prestige and quality in enrollment, training and scientific research, promoting international activities, focusing on connecting Southeast Asia and the world, strongly applying technology in digital transformation. With great solidarity, efforts and determination, in the 2023-2024 academic year, VKU has achieved outstanding and impressive achievements. Let’s take a look back at 10 outstanding imprints of VKU in the past academic year.


1. The first university in the central region to announce enrollment and training of IC Design Engineers

With the position of a leading public university, VKU is well aware of its responsibility and mission in training and providing high-quality human resources in IC and AI. Accordingly, VKU has actively implemented many activities, being the pioneer in completing procedures and announcing enrollment of IC Design Engineers since 2024, with a total expected training target of 600 – 1,000 engineers by 2028. On the other hand, VKU also opens master training courses, develops research groups, builds packaging and testing training plans, enrolls upskills classes for students and trains lecturers. In particular, VKU cooperated with DSAC Center to organize the first training course of IC Design source lecturers for Da Nang city, put into use the Center for IC and Smart Technology, the Lab for Experiments and New Technology Research.

2. 100% of students enrolled with high admission scores among TOP universities nationwide

In 2023, VKU continued to have a successful enrollment season, belonging to the Top universities with high admission scores in the country and the highest in the Central Highlands. The admission scores continuously increased compared to previous years for all 15 majors/minors. For academic records admission, the scores ranged from 24 to 26 points; For high school exam admission, the scores ranged from 22 to 26 points, the average admission score in 2023 increased by 2 points compared to 2022 and by 6 points compared to 2020. In particular, the number of candidates admitted directly to the school increased rapidly with more than 400 students, accounting for nearly 30% of the total 1,535 students enrolled, bringing the total student population of the school to nearly 6,000 students.

3. Strengthening and expanding cooperation with many domestic and international strategic partners

Recognizing the importance of cooperation, connection and internationalization, VKU has chaired and initiated the establishment of the ASEAN Consortium for Innovation and Research (ACIR) with the first 7 members from Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar which has been highly appreciated by the community of scientists and universities in the Southeast Asian region and actively supported by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), FISU Vietnam and leading domestic and international scientists.

VKU also strengthened the expansion and exchange of cooperation with many strategic partners, signed 18 MoUs in implementing 3+1, 2+2 joint training programs, and invested in facilities to meet the needs of training high-quality human resources in the fields of IC and AI.

4. Implementing international projects to contribute to improving the training capacity and quality of VKU

VKU has actively conducted international cooperation projects, including the project to improve the capacity of education – training, administration and research during the period of 2022 – 2027 worth 7.7 million USD from non-refundable ODA capital of the Korean Government. The project has a particularly important strategic goal of developing VKU into a leading university in Vietnam according to international standards in administration, training, scientific research, innovation, international and business cooperation with four main goals including: Advance VKU to the first digital university in the Central region; Training and developing a team of highly-qualified lecturers, good at expertise, profession and research capacity in line with international standards; Improving and accrediting training quality, building new breakthrough programs, leading society and the global labor market; Promoting innovation, research, startups, business connection, cultural and academic exchanges with the world and Korea.

5. Successfully organizing many large international conferences in the fields of Information Technology, Communications, Digital Economy and Radio-Electronics

VKU organized many large international conferences, gathering many domestic and foreign scientists to participate, in which, the CITA (Conference on Information Technology and its Applications) initiated by VKU in 2012 is a series of scientific conferences on information technology and its applications in various fields, creating a forum to gather and connect domestic and international researchers, scientists, and experts to participate in publishing, discussing and sharing new issues. In particular, CITA 2024 – The 13th Conference has marked a remarkable development, affirming the prestige, scale and quality of an international conference, especially Volume 1 of the conference proceedings continued to be published in Lecture Notes in Network and Systems (Springer) in the DBLP, Scopus, Web of Science databases with an acceptance rate of 25%.

6. Successfully chairing and hosting regional and national academic competitions and playgrounds

VKU has successfully chaired and hosted regional and national academic competitions and playgrounds, including the Informatics Olympiad in the Central ?Central Highlands chaired by VKU, initiated in 2020, with the enthusiastic participation of candidates from primary, secondary, high schools, and specialized high schools across the country, demonstrated through impressive numbers during the past 5 years. In particular, the 5th event in 2024 has gathered many excellent candidates who have participated in many national and international competitions, which is a strong proof to affirm the prestige and quality of the Informatics Olympiad in the Central ?Central Highlands, reaching the stature and standards of national and international competitions.

7. Strengthening bilingual training programs English – Vietnamese, Japanese – Vietnamese, Korean – Vietnamese and academic exchanges to contribute to international integration of students

VKU always identifies clearly its mission and responsibility in training, providing high-quality human resources, scientific research, knowledge and technology transfer, with the vision of becoming the leading university in the country and the aspiration of reaching international standards in the fields of information technology, communications and digital economy. VKU has been cooperating with many partners to organize bilingual training courses for Engineers/Bachelor’s degrees in English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, Korean-Vietnamese, and to enhance academic and cultural exchanges with universities in Southeast Asia. A typical example is the cooperation model with NiX Education to train bilingual IT Engineers in Japanese-Vietnamese, which has achieved many impressive results after 1 year of training. Accordingly, 2 excellent students attained Japanese level N3, 11 students were selected by Japanese companies for internships and paid part-time work, and students were able to communicate in Japanese with the company through chat software to solve problems in their work.

8. 100% of students defend their graduation thesis entirely in English and 95% of students have jobs within 6 months after graduation.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, VKU witnessed 288 students of the 2019 course completing the training program on schedule and meeting output standards. 100% of students who completed their graduation thesis entirely in English received graduation certificates, of which 25% of students graduated with Excellent and Good grades. The employment rate of graduates is very high, with an average salary of 8-15 million VND/month or more. Most of them have jobs at leading domestic and international enterprises, including Daewoo, Hitachi, LG, FSoft, Enclave… Among these students, many of them were “ordered” by large enterprises when they were only 2nd and 3rd year students. Besides, many students have achieved remarkable and proud achievements in international and national academic and startup competitions.

9. VKU students have achieved many outstanding achievements in scientific research, innovation, creativity and startup activities at the international and national levels.

In the 2023-2024 school year, VKU students have continuously achieved many high and comprehensive awards in international and national competitions. Typically, in the field of scientific research, students have won 1 Second Prize at the Ministry level, 1 First Prize at the City level and 1 Second Prize at the University of Da Nang level. In the field of entrepreneurship and innovation, they have won the First, Second and Third prizes at the National Future Creation Award – VietFuture 2023 and the runner-up of the GBA Business Challenge 2023. In addition, they also earned many other awards at domestic and international academic competitions such as 1 Second Prize at the Open-Source Software competition, 2 Second Prizes and 1 Third Prize at the majored category of the 32nd Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics, Third Prize in the Practical Exercise for Responding to and Handling Information Security Incidents in the Central – Central Highlands region, etc. These impressive achievements of the student teams have once again affirmed the prestige and training quality of VKU with advanced training programs, appropriate access to technology and foreign language training environments right from years 1 and 2.

10. Enhancing position, promoting the school’s reputation and strengthening the building of great solidarity with the spirit of VKU – Aspiration to advance beyond

VKU is not only the leading training and research university in the Central – Central Highlands region, but also plays an important role in many organizations and professional communities. VKU initiated and chaired the establishment of the ACIR Community, opening up opportunities for cooperation and development in the field of information technology and communications. At the same time, VKU is also an active member as Vice President of FISU Vietnam, Danang City Informatics Association, President of FISU Central – Central Highlands, demonstrating its role, position and prestige in promoting technology training and research activities in the region.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, VKU continued to improve its organizational structure, appointing 1 Vice President and many leadership positions to manage functional units under the school, maintaining unity in leadership and management, internal solidarity, keeping up average income growth for the staff over the years. On the afternoon of August 17, 2024, the University of Danang, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), organizes a Leadership and Management Conference to summarize the 2023-2024 school year and set the direction for the 2024-2025 school year.

Overview of the conference

The conference holds significant importance, aiming to evaluate and summarize the implementation of tasks for the 2023-2024 school year, seriously review, draw out the causes of limitations and shortcomings; thereby proposing appropriate directions for activities for the new school year 2024-2025. The conference is also an opportunity for the university’s leaders and managers to focus on giving advice on building and developing education and training careers.

Attending the conference are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Party Committee Secretary, Rector of VKU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chair of the University Council; Vice Rectors: Dr. Tran The Son, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, and all Leaders of political organizations, Leaders of Departments, Faculties, Centers and Divisions under the University.

During the 2023-2024 academic year, VKU benefited from the guidance and support of the Leaders of the University of Danang, the Party Committee, the University Council, and the Board of Rectors. The collective efforts and solidarity of the VKU’s staff and employees enabled the successful execution of 7 key orientations and 43 tasks, resulting in significant achievements across 12 operational areas of VKU such as organizing the enrollment of 1,500 targets for 15 majors/minors, with an admission rate of 100% and the 2023 admission score increased by 2-3 points compared to 2022, among the universities with high entrance scores in the country; the learning outcomes of students achieving good or above account for a high percentage; successfully accredited 3 training programs; Open 4 new majors/minors: Marketing, Information Security, Communication Technology, IC Design; implement international projects such as the Korean Government’s 7.7 million USD ODA project, the British Council project, the PHER project, etc.; invest in putting into use the System of Microchip Design Practice Labs, Experimental Labs and New Technology; strengthen student management, 2-way information exchange between the university and students’ families; expand cooperation with many domestic and foreign business partners, link activities between businesses and universities in training coordination, improve foreign language skills in English, Japanese, Korean and skills for students; successfully organize many major international scientific conferences such as CITA 2023, ATC 2023; chair the initiation of the establishment of the ACIR Community with the first 7 members from Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar; implementing academic exchange activities and cultural exchanges between VKU lecturers and students with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand (KMUTNB); organizing many large academic and intellectual playgrounds for the region and the country such as the Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad, Information Security Competition, etc.; many students achieved high results in international and national competitions on startups and innovation; increasing the recruitment of high-quality, highly qualified lecturers; perfecting the organizational structure; maintaining order and discipline in training activities; communication and promotion of the university’s reputation are widely spread in the community; improving the green – clean – beautiful landscape, strongly applying digital transformation in all management and operation activities of the university, etc. and some other tasks.

Leaders speak to propose directions for the 2024-2025 school year

In the 2024-2025 school year, with new opportunities and challenges, VKU proposes 3 major directions: Promoting digital transformation, applying information technology and artificial intelligence; Strengthening cooperation and internationalization of activities; Building a happy university that clearly demonstrates VKU culture imbued with the spirit of educational philosophy “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation” with the core value system “Prestige – Quality – Professionalism”. From the major directions, VKU also proposes 59 key tasks and solutions for 12 groups of management and operational areas of the university, striving to successfully complete the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year.
