Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho on behalf of Universitys leaders congratulated and thanked a cooperation between the two units, and emphasized the vision of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology as the unique and leading university in the Central – Central Highlands region with the development orientation of the international university model, intensive training and research in the fields of information technology, communication and digital economy. With that development orientation, in addition to improving the quality of facilities and training programs, the University pays great attention to expanding job opportunities so that post-graduates can integrate into domestic and foreign labor markets. In particular, this training program has shown the University philosophy “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation”, which always creates the best learning conditions for students with humanity through the funding of tuition fees, teaching support from enterprises and the University, as well as facilitating students to access training according to international programs.

The cooperation program for training Information Technology Engineers –Korean Enhancement is to train high-quality human resources for the domestic and foreign labor markets, especially the highly qualified labor market in Korea. Students selected for this program are granted 100% scholarships and Korean learning materials by FPT Software Central, as well as other priority policies in the process of studying and recruiting.

Student Dinh Viet Phuong, 21KIT class, said: We are very happy to be students of the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology and participate in the IT Engineer Training Program �?Korean Enhancement supported by FPT Software Central. We believe that through this program, we will be able to access new knowledge, scientific work and cultivate necessary soft skills, especially Korean to work and live for the future.

According to the plan, 33 students of the first 21KIT class (selected from more than 500 IT 2021 course students) participating in this program will learn Korean in parallel with the process of learning specialized knowledge at the university. With nearly 300 hours of Korean language training, after graduation, students are able to use Korean fluently, achieve TOPIK 3 level and are capable of exchanging and communicating in Korean with partners to implement Information Technology and related projects. In addition, students are also supported to update professional technological knowledge, etc. to work at Korean agencies, enterprises and organizations, as well as in the modern international environment, meeting the requirements of Vietnamese society and economy in the process of international integration, and can also continue to study and research at a higher level.

At the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU University, Chairman of the CITA 2023 Organizing Committee gave an opening speech, welcomed and thanked FISU Vietnam, the community of scientists, the network of training and research institutions, domestic and international enterprises and organizations that have accompanied and supported the University as well as the 12-year process of forming and developing the CITA Conference, and emphasized the role, position and responsibility of VKU University to the community and the development of science, technology, training in information technology and digital transformation of the Central – Central Highlands region and the country. VKU is one of the three major public universities in the country and the only one in the Central �?Central Highlands region to provide intensive training and research in information technology, communication and digital economy with the orient operation in the international university model, advanced management to provide high quality human resources for the 4th industrial revolution and international integration, including: (1) Software Engineering; (2) Data Science & AI; (3) IoT & Robotics; (4) Cyber Security; (5) E-commerce; (6) Digital Marketing; (7) Finance – Digital Accounting; (8) Multimedia Communication; (9) Digital Arts.

Initiated in 2012, CITA (Conference on Information Technology and its Applications) is a series of scientific conferences on information technology and its applications held annually by VKU. CITA 2023 – the 12th time, there has been a great development in quality as well as quantity, especially an international session proceedings has been published in Lecture Notes in Network and Systems (Springer) of DBLP database, Scopus, Web of Science. This years conference, the Organizing Committee received 155 scientific articles from nearly 400 authors around the world such as Austria, Canada, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia. Myanmar, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. After a very strict and serious review process, each article has 2-4 reviewers; Under the chairmanship and professional advice of prestigious scientists in the field of information technology and digital economy such as Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh (Poland), Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Thanh Thuy (Vietnam), Prof. Ph.D. Dosam Hwang (Korea), Prof. Ph.D. Le Minh Hoa (UK),… had 33 articles selected for publication on the international track at Volume 734 of Lecture Notes of Networking and Systems (acceptance rate is 21%) and 36 other quality articles published in the CITA 2023 National Conference Proceedings, among them, there were 06 quality reports selected for publication of the Journal of Research, Development and Applications, IT and Communication (ISSN 1859-3526), the prestigious Journal of Information and Communications of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

In particular, at the CITA 2023 plenary session, a quality reported by the very prestigious and famous Vietnamese Prof. Le Khac Nhien An from the School of Computer Science, the University of Dublin, Ireland on issues related to “Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics”.

In addition, with the prestige and quality confirmed, since 2022, CITA Conference has received professional support and sponsorship from internationally prestigious journals such as the Journal of Information and Telecommunication (Scopus, eSCI) of Taylor and Francis (//www.tandfonline.com/toc/tjit20/current) and the Vietnam Journal of Computer Science (Scopus, eSCI) of World Scientific Publishing. Both of these journals are quoted in the Scopus and e-SCI print databases. Accordingly, more good quality articles will be selected to expand and publish in the special above journals.

Reporting sessions with many interesting and thriving topics today in information technology, communication and digital economy

The Conference will take place in 11 parallel reporting sessions (6 national and 5 international sessions) with many good topics and current developments in information technology, communication and digital economy including:

·      Image processing and natural language;

·      Software Engineering and Information Systems;

·      Communication networks

·      Digital economics

At the closing session, the Organizing Committee decided to award 3 author groups with the best paper: 1 article of the International Track for authors from Vietnam and Korea (title: Car Detector based on Yolov5 for Parking Management), 1 article of the National Track for authors from Vietnam and Canada (title: A Knowledge-based Framework for Developing Smart Interfaces for Smart Service Systems) and 1 article for students from Vietnam and Ireland (title: Building Legal Knowledge Map Repository with NLP Toolkits).

The 12th conference on information technology and its applications (CITA 2023) has once again affirmed the prestige and professional quality, which is a bridge between domestic and foreign scientists to contribute intelligence, science technology in the field of information technology, communication and digital economy to promote the scientific development and digital transformation of the country.  Speaking at the opening conference, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector acknowledged and praised the SR spirit’s students, the dedication and seriousness of mentors. And the University affirmed that it always pays attention and creates conditions for students to participate in SR in the university environment in order to detect and foster SR capable factors to create research products that are applicable to the community and society.

According to the summary report on the implemented SR students results in 2022-2023, this year, there are 29 topics registered to participate, of which 17 topics are accepted and participated at the University-level Conference Student Scientific Research and 06 authors groups with typical SR topics reported and answered critical questions before the Evaluation Council. The topics are focused on research areas suitable for training majors, topics that are meaningful in science as well as, practical and highly applicable in most fields such as education, medicine, agriculture, industry, trade, services, etc. In particular, some topics are written and reported entirely in English.

Ending Conference, the evaluation council selected and decided to award these excellent research groups: 03 First Prizes, 03 Second Prizes, 05 Third Prizes and 03 Consolation Prizes. In particular, 03 excellent research projects winning the First Prize will be selected to attend the Conference students scientific research at the University of Da Nang.

At the discussion and closing session, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector gave some general assessments on the situation of Universitys students scientific research activities; there has been progress in quantity and quality, the topic has been built up with more general and extensive knowledge, students have invested, focused on creating factors in real and highly practical research work, there are students studying in the 1st and 2nd years who can present confidently and fluently to the Council, this is a good sign, stimulating creativity, exploring with new technologies in society.

With the orientation to build the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology to become a prestigious University for education, research and technology transfer in the field of IT and related fields according to the higher education model, the focus on promoting scientific research activities among students is considered as one of the University’s key tasks.

At the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Huynh Cong Phap is pleased to welcome the EVVO Labs�?Board of Directors and members in this return to work, more specifically, to carry out the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding that the two sides have cherished and built in the past. The Memorandum of Understanding marked an important development milestone, supporting each other comprehensively on the basis of linking resources and strengths of each side.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chew Teck Shiong expressed his joy and considered this as a milestone in the development strategy of international cooperation with universities in Asia in general and Vietnam in particular, with the project to expand the presence in Vietnam as well as invest in adjacent human resources. The cooperation between VKU and Evvo Labs will open up new opportunities for both sides to make proper and long-term investments in training, early development of young talents, and transmission of knowledge and experience in the development of electronics and digital.

Leaders of the two units have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which reinforces the goal of focusing on the following specific contents:

1. Recruiting talented students preparing to graduate to train skill sets to work in an international environment, thereby conducting an internship and career development program in Singapore. The program run by EVVO Labs, aims to develop and deliver a young, talented, high-quality and aspiring workforce that can grow into the future leaders of the industry. At the end of work in Singapore, this talented workforce will return to contribute to Vietnams ecosystem. This is a win-win proposition for both economies.

2. EVVO Labs and VKU will co-organize the Cyber-Security Hackathon in the appropriate framework/scope, expected in the Central and Central Highlands and expanding nationwide.

3. EVVO Labs and VKU will co-host a series of workshops on topics: Practical Cyber Security and Confident communication – Specialized English for IT Engineers.

4. Co-host a short course in the direction of commercialization – cost and revenue sharing method (VKU organizes enrollment & EVVO Labs provides a team of training experts and program content). Short-term training/coaching courses include:

a) Confident communication – Specialized English for IT Engineers.

b) Practical cyber security through commercial projects where EVVO Labs is providing services on the international market.

5. Cooperate in R&D to co-develop scientific research papers and patents recognized by intellectual property organizations around the world.

6. EVVO Labs cooperates with VKU on Cyber security Research and Development labs (e.g. on cloud security, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing). From research work within the framework of practical projects, aiming at commercialization, generating revenue for both parties, according to the principle of mutual benefit.

Representatives of the leaders had further exchanges of ideas, discussed cooperation activities in the near future, the parties will regularly have meetings to promote the signed terms soon into practice, and expand the development of cooperation programs in areas of mutual interest. Hopefully, in the future, this cooperation will create many good opportunities and benefits, opening up a sustainable development future for both sides.
