C is for Cookie….
C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me
C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me
C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me
Oh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C
You will be cursing me all day while this song plays in your head.
On one of the many snow days this season, I decided to make some homemade cookies.
Why?
Because I wanted to lick the batter.
My shame knows no bounds.
I always use the Toll House Cookie recipe, with some minor alterations…. Typically because I cannot find my ¼ cup
scoop.
Ingredients
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon corn starch
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 sticks of butter (microwaved for 30 seconds)
1 cup of packed brown sugar
½ cup of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon (not a typo) of vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 bag of peanut butter / chocolate chips
Directions
1) Preheat the oven to 350
2) Mix the sugars, vanilla, and butter with a hand mixer.
3) Eat a few spoon fulls of this mix. Sigh contently.
4) Add the eggs, beat some more
5) Add the corn starch, salt and baking soda, mix some more.
6) Add the flour by the ½ cup full until all incorporated.
7) Add the chips, eat some as you pour
8) Drop by tablespoons on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper
9) Bake for 4 minutes, flip if you have two trays, bake for 4 minutes more
10) Cool on your stove for a few minutes. I like mine very pale and gooey.
The total number of cookies this mix makes is in direct proportion to how much dough you eat.
I usually make two trays and free the rest for a later date.
The kids and I love these cookies. Craig said he prefers his with more high
fructose corn syrup and preservatives.
This is what I deal with on a daily basis. Pity me.
Did you hear about the new Pirate Movie?
It’s rated “ARGH”!!!
What can I say, A little pirate stole today’s post…..
Life has been crazy and snowy. Literally. Sorry, all you snow fans, I am done with it,
I have been a disorganized lady these past few days. I am always amazed by those people who do it
all…. When most of the time I am lucky to shower and brush my teeth.
I am going to aim for a post later today, if not, definitely by Thursday. Until then, know I am
thinking of you…..
PS – I am reading the Money Saving Mom’s Budget book… very interesting. As a side bar, and I am
sure she would be proud to know, I requested the book from the library! It was my first time requesting a book so I
felt like a real adult.
Remember, it is the little things in life that make ya happy.
Happy New Year!!!!!!
Well, hello there! Long time, no speak!
Happy New Year!!! Wishing you only good things in 2014!
Unfortunately, it will be a busy January for Dizee…. so I just wanted you to set your alarm for Feb 3rd, 2014. That’s when I will be back with bells on.
Merry Christmas!
I interrupt this blog with an important announcement
First off, let me start off by saying I have a massive sinus infection and an ear infection… I feel like my head will explode. So, I will be taking the rest of the week off to heal my poor semi-broken body. Thank God for Penicillin!
Yes, I actually feel like this.
Secondly, it seems like time is rearing its ugly head again. I just don’t seem to have the time to write five posts a week. With the holidays, Disney and my general disorganization, I decided to cut down to Tuesday & Thursday posts.
Just often enough to scratch my writing itch and compel me to do more blog-worthy stuff. Isn’t it about quality rather than quantity anyway?
Either way, my blog is still my fun little place where I can keep track of the random thoughts going through my head. It’s not like I make money off it – it just helps with my sanity and is a hobby I enjoy doing.
Hopefully, Post-January, I will pick up and post more.
Adieu until Tuesday – I have an exciting, easy recipe planned for homemade banana “ice cream”. Who else is incredibly excited?
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving!
I am thankful for my two little boys, three crazy beagles, my husband of 10 years (today, actually), my family and friends…
This year, though, I am extra thankful. Why?
Because a selfless person in Germany registered to be a bone marrow donor.
Because this man saw fit to fly across an ocean to donate his bone marrow to a man he will most likely never meet.
Because this man has helped save my father’s life.
Thank you to all who donate, never knowing exactly whose life you are saving.
If you want to register, head over to Be The Match to request your free swab kit. It may be the only chance you get to save a life.
Paper Plate Gourmet : Theresa’s Broccoli Slaw Pasta
I can take absolutely no credit for today’s recipe – it is all my pal Theresa.
This is from that wonderful little brain of hers – broccoli slaw pasta, kind of my Spaghini (Zucchini Pasta). Maybe we should call this one Brocslasta (Broccoli Slaw Pasta – I am creative like that….)
This is something I could totally get into and is perfect for those of you who do not have a Julienne Peeler (CK, I am talking to you, girl.)
Ingredients
Broccoli Slaw (I always see it in my Stop & Shop)
Olive Oil, 1 TBS
Minced Garlic, 1 teaspoon, more or less to taste
Red Pepper Flakes, a couple of dashes, more or less to taste
¼ cup of Water
Directions
- Steam the Broccoli Slaw (I would try the Microwave until soft-ish)
- While that is steaming, mix the olive oil, minced garlic and red pepper flakes and heat in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes
- Add the Slaw and water to the skillet to coat everything
Seems simple enough that I will have no problems with it!
Dizee Did it Again…..
AHHHHH!!!! I was home yesterday with the little ones and I really thought I would get a post done.
NOPE!
It’s been crazy lately, but I have a plan to get back on track.
Of course, I have been saying the same thing about losing weight for years and haven’t done it…..
